I've heard that DVD pictures are not as good as the original tape (DV?) - should I keep a copy of my wedding video in case there's a better format in the future? Thanks Jan (Melbourne)

thanks for your comment - We certainly recommend keeping the original tapes for as long as possible.

DVD uses a form of compression that reduces the video data considerably and while it usually does a very good job there is always the likelihood that technology will be improved in the future.

If the tape does deteriorate in the meantime you still have stopped the degradation process by transferring to a DVD.
