I have two rolls of 8mm (200foot) film of family birthdays etc around mid1940 to mid 1950 that have vinigar syndrome. The State Film Library said you may be able to help in getting these two rolls copied on to modern film so they can be transfered to DVD.Could you advise if it's possible.
Regards John.

I have a small LP record collection (up to 100) which I believe needs cleaning as many have various levels of surface noise. I do not wish to transfer to other medium but to continue playing on turntable. Do you offer such a service and what kind of cost am I looking at?
Also, I have a couple of reel to reel audio tapes (I think it is called dual track as you turn the tape over to play the "other side"). Do you transfer that to CD? If so can you give me some cost indication.

regards
Edmond

Hi, i wanted to put togeather a dvd slideshow for my husband as a 30th b'day present. Wanted to include photos i have, family member and friend messages, music. So the end product would be kinda like a tribute to life so far. Is this possible?

Hi Liz, it depends upon the format of the tapes. Are they digital (DV) or other format? If you call us (numbers on the sidebar, left) we can give you more advice.

Hi
Re: Audio editing
I have created a 2 hour audio using Garage Band - it is a speaking audio - we have added music successfully, but it still has a 'background' noise. Can you tell me how we can remove it and/or do you do this or can you direct me to someone who can? Thankyou. Julie

Hi there was looking to record an audio cd to offer as a give away for my fitness business. Would it be feasable to record it in your studio and get a copy from you or could you suggest a better option. Will be sending these cd's to prospective clients. By recording it will simply be me talking/reading information. No singing or music etc. Although music may be an option.

This format was designed primarily for audio recording (answering machines in particular). While we know that there was limited use of this medium for computer storage, we are not aware of anyone with the hardware/software to transfer and read the data. Sorry!http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microcassette

Obviously it depends on the degree of degradation, but it should not be assumed that a tape is beyond repair just because it won't play on a domestic VCR. We are able to assess your tapes for a fee of $50 (refundable if you go ahead with us). Straight transfer of tape to dvd is quite inexpensive, but restoration and editing can be pricey. It depends on the value of the material to you!

It is almost guaranteed impossible to restore video with average consumer equipment. The basic video hardware required for
excellent quality restoration starts at about $700 US and
goes up from there. That amount is for just a few basic
items, and does not even include a decent
capture card. This fact alone turns off most people from
trying to restore video. The ideal setup for a home user
wanting to guarantee himself or herself good results will
top near $1200 US for the video hardware, which again does
not include the capture card. For most
people, especially ones wanting to tackle all kinds of
projects, expect to spend $1500 or more.

A professional or semi-professional VCR is the
single most important piece of equipment for restoration.
Restoration starts at the source. The best decks are
typically S-VHS decks, not because they play S-VHS, but
because they come with many embedded filters and enhancers.

Hi,

I have some old video cassette tapes taken in 1982 which have traces of mould on and I am unable to play them. Do you know of someplace/someone who would be able to help me as I would like to have them cleaned or replicated in some way as they have sentimental family value.

Hi, Im looking at hopefully recording some sample tracks of songs I have written and sung but dont know how I go about it. Once I have recorded the tracks, do you know who I can forward the sample CD to?

Hi Belinda - yes it may be possible. There are a number of options. If you get the tape to us, we will give you a no-obligation assessment.

I'm just enquiring as to whether it is possible to get the footage back from a faulty tape? It is a JCV Mini Digital Video Cassette.
When we tried playing the tape back, nothing would display except for jumbled picture at the side of the screen.
